Anniston, Ala – Local attorney and businessman, Ray Bryan, has announced plans to hold a campaign kickoff rally Tuesday June 4th at the newly renovated Oxford Civic Center in Oxford, Alabama. At that event, Ray Bryan, a conservative Republican, will officially enter the race for Alabama State Auditor.

Doors open at 6:00 PM with musical entertainment provided by Probate Judge Ryan Robertson and refreshments provided by Smokin-Hot BBQ. The program will begin at 6:30 PM with Jay Holland, a well-known and respected state wide radio personality acting as Master of Ceremonies.

The Republican Primary for State Auditor will be held in June of 2014 with a General Election to follow held in November of 2014.

Samantha Shaw, a Republican and current State Auditor, is prohibited from seeking a third term for the office and thus, in 2014, the office of State Auditor will be an open seat. Currently, there is only one announced candidate for the Republican Nomination.

One of only two open seat statewide contests, the campaign for the Republican nomination of State Auditor will be one of the most closely watched campaigns in 2014 by Alabama Republicans.

Attention to this race will be given due to the unique campaign platform Bryan proposes in which he pledges to work with the Alabama legislature to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot to eliminate the office if elected. Bryan suggests the need for this office has passed and it is time to boldly reevaluate the need for this office in light of today’s technology and the financial needs of other agencies in state government. This may be the first time in Alabama history that anyone has ever run for an office they hope to eliminate if elected.
