WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Martha Roby (R-AL) today urged Senate leaders and President Obama to work with the House of Representatives and negotiate a solution to the government shutdown rather than refuse to talk.

As the deadline to a government shutdown approached Monday night, the House acted on three separate proposals attempting to negotiate with the Senate and ultimately agree on a plan that funds the government and offers Americans relief from the President’s increasingly unpopular and unworkable healthcare law. The Senate, however, blocked each proposal, refusing to enter into good faith negotiations to prevent a government shutdown.

In a video message today, Rep. Roby urged Senate leaders, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) to “come to the table” and negotiate a solution in the best interests of Americans.
