Albany Police Car Crash Sends 7 to Hospital

ALBANY, Ga. (AP) -- Albany officials say seven people -- including a police officer and five children -- have been hospitalized after a collision between a pickup truck and a police cruiser involved in a pursuit.

WALB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/KTnPEg ) the crash happened Saturday afternoon when an Albany police SUV crashed into the passenger door of a Ford F-150 pickup truck at an intersection.

The pickup overturned with its driver, a 22-year-old woman, and five children inside. Officials say the children's ages range from 1 to 15 years old.

Authorities say the officer had his blue lights flashing when the crash occurred. Investigators have not determined who's at fault.

Names of the officer and the others injured were not immediately released and details on their conditions were not available.
