MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama is joining with Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas for the U.S. 80 Highway Sale on April 18-19.
Alabama has organized the World's Widest Yard Sale along U.S. 80 for the last two years. The director of the Alabama Rural Development Office, Ron Sparks, says folding the World's Widest Yard Sale into the Historic U.S. 80 Hi-Way Sale will add many cities where people can look for secondhand treasures.
U.S. 80 was the first coast-to-coast, all-weather highway in the United States. It stretches 2,400 miles from Savannah, Ga., to San Diego, Calif. Officials say the yard sale April 18-19 will feature vendors from Phenix City, Ala., to Mesquite, Texas.
