A new study shows many college-bound Alabama high school graduates aren't prepared for college level Math or English.
According to the State Commission on higher education, 33% of more than 23,000 2012 graduates who enrolled in Alabama public colleges or universities tested into remedial math and/or english classes.
In some cases, remedial classes don't count as college credit.
Even if the classes do count, passing them doesn't meet the state's standards needed to graduate.
The 2012 numbers are an improvement from 2011's 35% remediation rate.
However, it's still above the national average.
