An historic Marianna bank may soon be transformed into a museum.

If approved by the Jackson County Tourist Development Council, the first national bank building will serve as an art and history museum. Main street board members believe this renovation will bring lots of tourism and money to Marianna. In order to begin the project, city officials would have to match a dollar for dollar $400,000 grant.

"I think it's really important for our community because it gives us the opportunity to provide all the artifacts and some of the history," said Mystie Richards, a Main Street Board Member.

Main street board members are currently compiling information concerning cultural facilities by visiting other cities in Florida that have history museums.
