Hospital, County Commissian Dispute Inmate Medical Bill

An outstanding medical bill for a murder suspect may not be paid by officials.

Monday, the Geneva County commission took no action when it came to a $15-thousand dollar bill from Flowers Hospital in Dothan.

The medical service reportedly concerns a coronary condition experienced by Phenico "Phenix" Hornsby.

The 42-year-old is behind bars for murder, attempted murder, arson, and burglary.

In June, Hornsby led authorities on a 48-hour manhunt across rural Geneva County.

Despite Hornsby being a county inmate, commissioners took no action in paying the bill.

Geneva County Sheriff Greg Ward fears that may prompt the hospital in suing his department for payment.
