MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a father and son drowned off the Gulf of Mexico in northern Florida while trying to rescue other family members in distress.
Gregory Carson and his son Dominique Chatman were pulled from the water near Miramar Beach after trying to help other family members but couldn't get back to shore. It's not yet clear if rip tide pulled the men away from shore yesterday afternoon.
Fire rescue officials say the two were "in full cardiac arrest" on the beach. They were pronounced dead at the hospital.
Another man drowned in the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday while vacationing with his wife on Navarre Beach.
