Then the caller agrees to research the case for a $25 fee.
The victims almost always find out that they're really not eligible for any state money.
The sheriff says information about unclaimed funds in state coffers is a matter of public record and it's available free of charge.
Sheriff Glover says most of the victims who have contacted his office to complain about the scheme are senior citizens.
