Coffee Springs Faces Wild Dogs Problem

Residents in a Geneva County town say authorities need to do more.

In a recent incident, a Coffee Springs woman says she was attacked by a dog and requires rabies shots.

Packs of wild dogs are running loose in the town of 250 residents.

Recently, Coffee Springs Christian School erected a fence around the facility.

School officials say one reason is to keep the animals away from children.

"We had problems with the dogs getting in the trash, and also with dogs lying outside the classrooms. We put up the fence to keep a child from getting bit," said Julie Jones.

In next month's Coffee Springs city council meeting the issue of the stray dog problem is expected to be discussed.
