ENTERPRISE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities believe they're close to solving a string of burglaries in Alabama's Wiregrass region.
Coffee County Sheriff's Captain Chris Davis said 43 year old Marlon Wade Pendervis of Hartford is a prime suspect in at least 18 break-ins in Coffee, Houston, Geneva, Pike and Covington counties.
He was taken into custody Friday during a traffic stop.
Pendervis is jailed on a first-degree theft charge in connection with an August 21st burglary in the Jack community. He remains in the Coffee County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
Investigators said some of the stolen property ranging from jewelry to power tools was recovered from his home. Pendervis admitted he sold some of the stolen loot in Florida to support his cocaine habit.
Davis said Pendervis has cooperated with investigators. He faces additional charges.
