A local business was burglarized over the weekend. Police have not made an arrest, but are following up on a couple of leads.
Thieves jimmied the lock on the back door of City Auto Sales on Montgomery Highway in Dothan and took four small motorcycles, one red, one yellow and two blue.
Owner Robert Knie said, "We estimate the value to be a little over $2000 based on the purchase price of the vehicles."
Tracks in the dirt out back of the shop lead back to a chain link fence, which the burglars cut open to get the motorcycles off the property.
Knie says tire tracks lead to the Highway 84 overpass, suggesting the thieves made their getaway in that direction.
Police say a witness claims seeing people riding bikes similar to the stolen ones through two local housing complexes.
Investigators are following up on that lead.
This isn't the first time the store has been targeted by thieves:
Knie says, "The last four months we've had large potted plants, radiators, and a stereo stolen."
Owners are hoping that anyone with information in the case will come forward.
Investigators are hoping to get a break in the case sometime soon. They plan to interview the juvenile claiming to have seen the stolen motorcycles.
City Auto Sales is offering a reward of $300 dollars for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
