A Broward County sheriff's deputy is dead and another is injured Thursday after a child pornography suspect opened fire on them with a high-powered weapon.
The shooting occurred as deputies were trying to serve a search warrant.
Thirty-three-year-old Detective Todd Fatta was killed when shots hit him in the chest, penetrating his bulletproof vest.
Sergeant Angelo Cedeno, who is 36, was shot in the hand and shoulder and is undergoing surgery at North Broward Medical Center. Sheriff's officials say he's in stable condition.
Kenneth Wilk was taken into custody at the scene. No charges have been filed yet. Other officers returned fire at Wilk, but Sheriff Ken Jenne says Wilk wasn't injured.
The deputies were part of a multi-agency Law Enforcement Against Child Harm, which combats child porn. Fatta had been with the sheriff's office for nine years. Cedeno is a 15-year veteran.
