Scrushy Trial Date

A federal judge has set jury selection in the fraud trial of fired HealthSouth chief executive officer Richard Scrushy to begin January five.

U.S. District Judge Karon Bowdre set the trial date in an order released Monday afternoon. The order says jury selection is expected to be completed and testimony to begin on Jan. 17.

Attorneys have said Scrushy's trial could last for months.

Scrushy has pleaded innocent and he is free on a $10 million bond. He was charged with conspiracy, securities fraud and money laundering among other crimes. He claims a $2.7 billion accounting fraud at HealthSouth was committed by others without his knowledge.
