Guidance Counselor Reassigned Following Her Arrest

ELBA, Ala. (AP) - A school guidance counselor employed by Elba City Schools was reassigned to other duties following her arrest for violating a state liquor law.

Agents with the Alcohol Beverage Control Board arrested 48 year old Lynn Baker on August 10th, charging her with holding an open party. Authorities alleged that Baker allowed a juvenile to drink alcohol at a party she hosted in her home.

Lt. Jean Turner said officers acted after receiving an anonymous tip about the party. He said a 17-year-old was detained during a traffic stop and Baker's residence was raided.

The charge against Baker is a misdemeanor. She was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.

This story is just pathetic to me! I can't believe that a guidance counselor would do something as terrible as this. She should have lost her job all together and not justhave been reassigned other duties. As a parent I cannot comprehend someone making the decision to serve alcohol to someone else's child. These people entrusted their kids to this woman. It makes it 10 times worse to me because of her job as a so called teacher/counselor and also as her role in the church. What if one of those kids had been killed or died from alcohol poisoning? Would they have just given her a slap on the wrist then. It's scary to think that this is what's teaching our children. She must have connections! What a stupid hypocrite !!

Ms. Baker being a professional couselor should be held to the highest stardards of law and moral behavior for any part she played in the open house party. Her in her occupation as the elemtary school counselor, one of her roles is to be a roll model for children. As, the interim music director of a local church, she should be a roll model for the congration. If guilty her professional license should be revoked.
