This summer Gulf Shores is listed as one of the top 10 vacation rental destinations.
The Alabama resort town is right up there with Las Vegas and Orlando, Florida. Gulf Shores was number nine in Hotels.com's survey of top vacation spots booked this summer.
The most popular vacation rental destination was Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Orlando was second and Las Vegas was seventh. Internet-based surveys listing the Gulf Shores area as a popular destination come as no surprise to Sheila Hodges, owner of a Gulf Coast real estate firm.
She said her firm has seen an increase in interest from people who want to rent over the Internet.
