Gov. Bob Riley authorized the state Saturday to provide emergency aid to help Florida recover from the destruction of Hurricane Charley, which left at least 15 people dead and thousands homeless the day before. "The hearts and prayers of all Alabamians go out to the victims of this terrible storm, and our state will do whatever we can to help Florida's recovery efforts," Riley said on Saturday.
Riley said he spoke with Florida Gov. Jeb Bush by telephone Friday, and pledged any assistance needed from Alabama, and authorized the following assistance based on
Florida's request:
Riley said the state would stay in contact with Florida emergency agencies to coordinate any further requests
