Police Probe Fatal Shooting in Phenix City

PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) - Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Phenix City.

Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry said 25 year old Kevin Grimes of Smiths Station was shot dead early Monday.

He said Grimes died of multiple gunshots to the chest.

Police responded to the shooting at about 4:40 am and found Grimes in a vehicle with another man, who had been shot in the leg.

Sumbry said the second victim, 26 year old Larry Norton, was not seriously hurt.

Phenix City Police Captain Frank Ivey said investigators are trying to learn the motive and no arrests were made.

The homicide was the city's third of the year.
