Boaters Rescued on Chotawhatchee River

Authorities say low water levels are partly responsible for a man and two teenagers getting stuck over night on the Choctawhatchee River.

Steve Brophy along with teenage brothers, Daniel and Alex Green, spent the night nestled along the river bank near the Bellwood Community.

Late Sunday, they were fishing in their eight-foot boat when the low water levels and tree stumps created a dangerous combination.

They hunkered down on the river night for the night and were eventually found the next day

If you use the Choctawhatchee River, even in low water conditions, you need to have respect for the river and use common sense. And by the way, They need to make it illegal to have air boats in the river. The are a nusiance and are very damaging to the river and to the fish and wildlife.
