MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama's unemployment rate was up slightly last month.
According to the state Department of Industrial Relations, the jobless figure was 3.7 percent in July compared to 3.5 percent the previous two months.
ADIR Director Phyllis Kennedy, in a statement, said last month's numbers represents more than 81,000 unemployed individuals.
Nationally, the unemployment rate for July was 4 point 6 percent.
Shelby County's 2 point 6 percent was the state's lowest unemployment rate. The highest was recorded in Bullock County where
the figure was 10 point 5 percent.
