Canine Officer Pay Raise

Houston County Sheriff's department canine officers may see an increase in their pay soon.

Most departments employing canine workers compensate officers for the extra time they put into maintaining their dogs.

Houston County wants to make sure its officers are afforded the same opportunities.

The increase would allow all canine officers to be paid for eight extra hours every two weeks.

The increase will be voted on Monday at the Houston County commission meeting.
