Sanitation Rate Hike

You may soon be paying more for your garbage pick-up if you are living in Houston County.

County commissioners are expected to vote on the $3 a month increase next Monday.

Residents are charged $12 a month.

But County officials say that is not enough to cover all the expenses associated with garbage pick-up.

If the rate increase is approved, residents could see the change on their bills as soon as October.

I just want to say that I would not mind the increase if you would not mind buying me new trash cans every couple of months. I set my trash cans out for you with the lids on very tight and close to the road. When they empty my trash each week they always throw my trash cans in the ditch and the lids end up wherever.I buy good trash cans not cheap ones but they seem to break the handles and wheels off them. I would like for them to put them back like they got them! Is that asking to much?
