MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - 125 citizen soldiers assigned to Mobile based 226th Area Support Group are coming home after serving a year in Iraq.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Bob Horton, a National Guard spokesman in Montgomery, soldiers are scheduled to arrive at the International Airport in Gulfport, Mississippi, at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
He said the unit will travel to Camp Shelby, Mississippi, to prepare for their return to Mobile.
Horton said the process should take several days.
The 226th provided logistical support to U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq. It was the unit's second deployment to Iraq since 2003.
A welcome home ceremony for the 226th will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Fort Whiting Armory on Broad Street.
