MACON, Ga. (AP) - More than 40 college students from Miami University in Ohio and Boston University used their spring break to do something other than party.
They spent the week in Macon at the invitation of Rebuilding Macon, a nonprofit group that helps rebuild homes for the elderly.
The students painted a community center and a home, picked up roadside trash and raked leaves.
Miami University freshman Elizabeth Hartmann says it was an opportunity for students "to get out and see something real."
The students were part of their universities' alternative spring break programs.
The college students planned to leave this weekend, but they are being replaced by Georgia high school students who are using their spring break to help.
