An Army aviation program at Fort Rucker could be moved following a recommendation by a military advisory council.

The joint requirements oversight council has approved an Air Force request for control over medium and high altitude Unmanned Aerial Vehicles or UAV's.

The army currently divides training and doctrine for the u-a-v program between Fort Rucker and red stone arsenal near Huntsville.

The final decision on whether to transfer control of the program from the army to the air force will be up to Deputy Defense Secretary Gordan England.

Members of Alabama's congressional delegation are opposing the move and so are high ranking officials in the navy and Marine Corps as well as the army.
