Two video store employees were closing late Wednesday night into Thursday morning when one of them was shot in what could have been an attempted robbery.
The Video Warehouse on Ross Clark Circle has a drop box for after hour returns. However, early Thursday morning two males apparently weren't interested in movies.
Sgt. Stacy Robinson with the Dothan Police Department said, "These suspects attempted to gain entry into the store. When they couldn't get in, one of the suspects fired a single gunshot into the window of the store."
The suspects fired one shot into the window, but caused two wounds on a Video Warehouse employee who was released from the hospital Thursday.
Sergeant Robinson said, "This gunshot struck the victim in the wrist, exited through his wrist into his hip."
Was the shooter after the video stores money or was this a random act of violence?
Well, that's what investigators are hoping to find out
Sergeant Robinson concluded, "From what we've been able to determine from the scene and from the witness statements is the suspects intend to rob the business and became frustrated when they couldn't gain entry into the store.”
While the broken glass has been cleaned and the shattered door has been replaced, employees have some work to do with putting this very strange act of violence behind them.
The injuries of the employee were classified as non-life threatening. Officials say the bullet fragmented a bone in his wrist.
