Dale County Deputy Accused of Beating Man with Bat

DALEVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A Dale County sheriff's deputy remains on administrative leave after being accused of beating a Daleville man with a baseball bat.

Daleville Police Chief Jimmy Seaton said a warrant was issued Tuesday for the arrest of 40-year-old John Biestline. He's facing a charge of third-degree assault.

The victim, 23-year-old Roderick McDonald, alleges he was beaten with a baseball bat at his residence on July 7th. Seaton says Biestline, who was off-duty at the time of the incident, had driven to McDonald's residence. He's been a deputy more than 10 years.

Dale County District Attorney Kirke Adams says the incident appears to be a domestic dispute.
