Dothan city commissioners are taking a close look at the city's curfew law for minors. Commissioners have asked Dothan Police for a report within the next 60 days on how the curfew law is working.
Right now, juveniles have to be off the street by 10 p.m. during the week and 12 midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
There are exceptions, such as juveniles in the company of a parent or guardian, minors returning from school or church activities, and those traveling to and from work.
Parents are held responsible and can be fined $500 and sentenced to six months in jail. Police say 20 juveniles were charged with curfew violations in Dothan last year. Nine have been charged so far this year.
