Huntsville Man Gets No Jail After Pleading Guilty to Sex Charges

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A Huntsville man who pleaded guilty Monday to charges of repeatedly sexually abusing three of his adopted children will not go to jail.

Circuit Judge Karen Hall sentenced 51-year-old Jerry Wayne Love to 15 years on each of three first-degree sodomy charges. But she followed the prosecutors' recommendation, ordering Love to spend five years on probation and undergo treatment in a sex offender program.

Love, an unordained minister, pleaded guilty to charges of sodomizing three young boys he and his wife adopted. In exchange for the guilty pleas, the prosecution dropped ten counts of sodomy and three counts of sexual abuse against Love.

If he had been convicted, Love could have been sentenced to up to life in prison on nine of the felony charges.

Assistant Distric Attorney Allison Palmer told Hall that Love had abused the boys multiple times over several years. The boys are now 13, 14 and 16.

Fred Sharp, an investigator with the Huntsville Police Department, said he school officials contacted him in 2003 after one of the boys said Love molested him. Two younger boys came forward in 2006.

this is awful. i have 3 boys and if anyone ever did anything to them, i would have to take matters in my own hands and then, of course, i'd probably get life in prison b/c our CAWARD JUDGES aren't going to do a thing to a child molester..................

I am shocked at both the judge and prosecutor's actions. Love should have received the maximum on all courts. Oh big deal about Love undergoing into a sex offender program. Most state prison's have sex offender program's. Not only did Love claim to be a man of God but the victims were children entrusted to him. Major miscarriage of Justice. All parties involved need to be investigated and i wonder if either the judge or porsecutor have children?

This is beyond belief. The Judge should be removed from the bench immediately and an investigation should begin to determine why she would allow a child rapist go free. This must be looked into immediately. I will contact Governor Riley and request he look into this sentence and ask him to take action to remove the Judge.

There very few liberal judges in the state of Alabama and even those judges aren't stupid enought to hand down a sentence like this one , it would be political suicide ! So with that in mind , what would be the reasoning for this obscure decision ... Well the judge said she followed the prosecutions recommendations , who was the prosecuter ..Allison Palmer and who was the judge...Karen Hall. Both should be run out of town and disbared . This verdict is the very thing I would expect from someone like Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton of the liberal left wing !

One man gets 30 years for attempted rape that happened 10 years ago, and this man gets nothing for actual rape. ONLY IN AMERICA!

SO, I GUESS YOU CAN MOLEST OR DO WHATEVER TO OUR CHILDREN AND WALK FREE. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!! THAT JUDGE SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE BENCH. SHE IS CERTAINLY NOT LOOKING OUT FOR OUR CHILDREN..IT LOOKS LIKE SHE IS PROTECTING THIS SCUM BAG!! WE BETTER WAKE UP AND SEE WHAT IS GOING ON IN OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM.
