Man Gets 30 years in Prison for Attempt Rape

A Henry County man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for trying to rape a Dothan store clerk a decade 10 years ago.

Demarlos Davis was 23 when he was arrested for the attempted rape of a woman inside a Dothan business in 1997.

His first two trials ended with jurors unable to reach a unanimous decision, but in May a jury convicted him after four hours of deliberation.

Monday morning, Judge Jerry White sentenced Davis to 30-years in prison.

how do you know that the "alleged" attempted rape was "far fetched"? were you at Andrews Bridal Shoppe in 1997? if you weren't, don't claim that the attempted rape was "far-fetched." too many people in this country do not believe the victims of attempted rape or the victims of rape. just because there have been false accusations of rape in the past, i.e., the Duke University scandal, does not mean that ALL rape victims are lying or "crying wolf."

I think this is an outrage. He was definitely rail-roaded. The alleged attempted rape was so far fetched that there had to have been some doubt there. The sentencing of this man was unfair. He has now been taking away from his family for a very long time.
