Big plans are underway for the old Movie Gallery building in Dothan. The Wiregrass Church purchased the building for one million dollars. Now they've kicked off a two million dollar renovation project.

Troy Fountain, Lead Pastor, Wiregrass Church, says, “on Saturday February 6th we had 200 church members come in here, just get after it taking stuff down and basically getting the project off with a big work day.”

Wiregrass Church has outgrown it's current location. Around 700 people attend two worship services on Sundays. The new location gives them 80,000 square feet. Crews are knocking out a ceiling to create a two story sanctuary.

When work is complete this area will be a state of the art auditorium where church and community can come together.

“Hopefully will be something that the wiregrass has never seen before in terms of it's audio visual and lights. it'll be a state of the art facility not only to help us leverage what we need to do in order to reach the community for god but also it will be a great venue for other organizations to come in,” said Fountain.

Kim Clark, Band Director, Wiregrass Church, says, “super excited it's going to mean for us having a much larger stage the stage is going to be about four times as large as the stage we have now.... it's going to be amazing we cannot wait.”

Renovations should be complete by early 2011.
