Woman Slain in Murder-for-Hire Scheme

PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) - Russell County authorities say two people, including the victim's mother, are in jail Monday each charged in connection with Thursday's murder of a 20-year-old woman.

Authorities said the woman was slain in an apparent murder-for-hire scheme.

Sheriff's investigators said the body of Stephanie Shea Graham of Phenix City was found just off Alabama 165 in the Cottonton area around midnight Thursday.

A sheriff's official said Kenneth Walton was arrested Saturday and Lisa Graham - are each charged with capital murder for hire.

Investigators allege that Lisa Graham hired Walton, who works for her husband.

The body was spotted by a Eufaula truck driver who notified authorities.

Authorities said Stephanie Graham was shot six times.

I've been knowing the Graham family for a very long time. Shea and I were very close friends. I feel deep sympathy for Kevin and Booman because not only have they lost a daugther and a sister they have lost a wife and a mother too. I DO BELIEVE THAT LISA DONE THIS AND I PRAY SEE GETS WHAT IS COMING TO HER. May GOD be with this family during this tragedy that could have been prevented.

It is a shame because the one person a child thinks they can trust is their mother. It is hard to understand what she could have done to make you (her mother) hate her this way. May she rest in peace
