Judge orders Ala. teen held in school shooting
A judge has ordered a north Alabama middle
school student held in custody pending a ruling on whether to try
him as an adult in the fatal shooting of a classmate.

MADISON, Ala. (AP) - A judge has ordered a north Alabama middle
school student held in custody pending a ruling on whether to try
him as an adult in the fatal shooting of a classmate.
Prosecutors said a dention hearing was held Monday afternoon for
the 14-year-old charged with murder in the killing Friday of
ninth-grade classmate Todd Brown.
They said the judge set a hearing for Feb. 17 on the state's
request to try the suspect as an adult. His name has been withheld
because of his juvenile status.An attorney for the youth did not immediately return messages
seeking comment.
