The Federal Bureau of Investigation may soon check into the policies of a Wiregrass law enforcement agency.

Tuesday night, a dozen African-American citizens presented a petition to the Samson City Council.

The petition claims police harassment by Chief Gerome Cobb. The group spokesman said Cobb's men needlessly stop vehicles and pedestrians for searches.

However, Cobb said several of those making the accusations have previously been arrested on drug charges. Cobb said his priority over the last year-and-a-half has been to rid the community of narcotics.

The City Council will ask the FBI to look into the accusations of police harassment in Samson.
