Enterprise Day Care Owner Pleads Guilty

After nearly two years, the case of an Enterprise day care owner accused of violently shaking a baby has come to an end.

Julie Watkins, then owner of Tweet Tarts daycare, was arrested in August 2005 and charged with first-degree assault.

She reportedly shook five-month-old Jake Garrett to the point where the child was taken to Children's Hospital in Birmingham for intensive medical treatment.

Monday, following the seating of a jury to hear the case, Watkins pleads guilty.

The sentencing will take place in July and Watkins remains free on bond.

At this time, Jake Garrett is doing well and it's not known if he'll suffer any long term effects from the incident.
