Huge. Tiny. And a whole lot of in between....
Dogs of all shapes, sizes, and breeds were at the 7th Annual Pawfest in Headland Saturday, and while there were several events that took place, one really stood out.
"I'm going to be in the pageant."
"Being in the dog pageant."
"She has a little tutu."
"The pet pageant is more less a beauty pageant for the dogs... some people dress up there dogs.. some people just walk them all natural..."
And even though the dog pageant was a fun event, it wasn't the main reason that hundreds of people came.
"This is the fundraiser that we use to primarily fund our operation, every dime that is raised here goes to the animals.
The City of Headland Animal Rescue Mission, or C.H.A.R.M. is a nonprofit organization that takes in animals and nurtures them, until they are given a forever home.
"We socialize them... feed them... give them their medicine... get them fixed... and find them good homes."
All things that make a difference when adopting a pet.
But most importantly, it allows them to have a personality and stand out.
"She’s a good cuddle buddy."
"She likes to play and sit on the back of the couch like a cat, and she likes to play chase with us."
And if you're really lucky, you'll find your perfect match.
"She's a lot funny and I'm a lot funny."
