Geneva County Animal Shelter

A public citizen group continues to run into roadblocks in regard to an animal shelter for Geneva County.

The organization is looking for the Geneva County Commission to donate a few acres of land it owns along state Highway 167, several miles north of Hartford.

But a few commissioners say they're not ready to make a decision.

A shelter committee member told the county commission that she's totally frustrated:

"We’re still at square one. I’m getting tired of this. I am a patient person, but i do have my limits. I’m at the point where I’m done," said Carol Hauseknecht of Good Shepard Animal Shelter.

Under state law, each county is responsible for providing animal control, but Geneva County currently does not have a shelter, nor provide a control enforcement officer.
