Man Arrested on Child Molestation Charges

A Coffee County man is behind bars on a serious felony charge of sexual abuse on someone less than 12 years old.

48-year-old Melvin Maloy was arrested over the weekend at his Kinston home.

Coffee County sheriff officials have not disclosed many details about the case, but the reported victim is an eight-year-old child.

Maloy's bond was set at $30,000.

The district attorney's office will present the case to a grand jury in order to get an indictment on Maloy.

Was this case forgotten? Has the disrrict attorneys office followed with the information? Did the system fail another child that could be telling the truth?

I pray for the little girl and her family. When I was molested, the details still years later linger in my mind. I hope this man could change, but as we all know if he is not charged another childhood will be taken away from them also. I hope you will keep the public posted. Concerned and prayers go out for the gulity also.

Why does everyone assume he is guilty? What about his family? People are wrongly accused everyday. You should know his wife is divorcing him and this is her tactic to get everything including taking land from his mother and father that passed after hearing the news.

A $30,000.00 bond for child sexual abuse is a crying shame. You would think our children are worth more than that!!! Why only $30,000.00. Other less horrible crimes carry stronger sentences and higher bonds.

I don't understand Daron. I am really shock by the news. I don't know what happen, but I do know that repentance from our sin is always open with God. Jesus still loves you inspite of your sin and desires to forgive you of your sin, but note as with all sin there will be consequences. I encourage you to get in the Word of God and let the Spirit of Christ speak to you. I wil pray for you and want you to know I am available to talk if you want. In Christ, Your Former Associate/ Youth Pastor.

a lot goes on in this world today , but when people go and mess with our children something has to be done. there shouldn't even be a bond what are they thinking if he gets out he will one run or and just do it again this is why our children and streets are not safe

I feel that this man and any other child molester should be given a life sentence with no bond and no paroll or the death sentence would be even better after he has been gasterated because the child will have to suffer the rest of their life therefore the man should too. This is our CHILDREN we are talking about and it is time someone stands up and takes a stand and does something about these crazy people. They are picking on innocent little chilren and need to be stopped after the first offence not after the third or forth. I'm fed up! Any law offical that would let one of these monsters back on our streets must have a problem and I hope they have a hard time sleeping at night. Let it happen to them or their child and see how they feel. The laws must be changed for such a corrupt world. Child molesters can not be heeled, it is a proven fact. This is worse than murder, it's taking something from a child that never be given back. Give them the death penalty and let GOD take care of them and our prisons will no longer be over flowing with child molesters and murderers. My prayers are with the family of the child. Maybe all Americans should make this a priority in the next election!
