Prescriptions, Taxes and Videotape: Senate Race Off to Early Start

In the last week, Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Jack Ryan have clashed over prescription drugs, taxes, their fund-raising styles and a camera-toting campaign worker.

Obama told reporters a Ryan aide named Justin Werfel had trailed him for a week with a video camera. Obama says Werfel even taped him from a foot and a half away while he telephoned his wife.

Ryan communications director Bill Pascoe says Werfel was merely gathering information about Obama as he had been instructed, but Pascoe says Werfel has been cautioned not to crowd Obama too much.

Werfel was jokingly dubbed Captain Video by some Statehouse reporters.
