MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Three Montgomery teens were sentenced Tuesday to 30 years in prison each for committing a total of 74 robberies last year.
19-year-old Kenyatta Belser pleaded guilty to eight counts of first degree robbery. Jamar Sword and Johnny Bell, both 18, each pleaded guilty to 11 counts.
Police say the three robbed people at gunpoint in May and June of last year.
Their victims said in court that they constantly feared for their safety as a result of the crimes.
The teens apologized and their families asked for leniency. But Circuit Court Judge Johnny Hardwick said the community could not condone or tolerate their crimes.
