FORT RUCKER, Ala. (AP) — Military police on Friday evening were seeking a soldier who eluded his military escorts during a court martial at Fort Rucker earlier in the day, authorities said.

Fort Rucker authorities said in a statement Friday evening that Staff Sgt. Mathew P. Anderson had just been found guilty of three counts of indecent assault and two counts of dereliction of duty. He disappeared just before the sentencing phase of the trial, the statement says.

After his disappearance, security was increased at all gates, and local law enforcement agencies were told to be on the lookout for Anderson.

According to the statement, Anderson was not considered dangerous, however if anyone has any information on his whereabouts, they are asked to call the Fort Rucker Military Police at 255-2222.
