FLORIDA (AP) - Authorities say Florida deputies shot and killed two men in unrelated weekend shootouts in Bay and Pasco counties.
A spokesman for the Bay County Sheriff's Office says a deputy shot and killed a Louisiana man Saturday afternoon after a lengthy car chase and manhunt in the Florida Panhandle.
Christopher Michael Simpson of Louisiana was shot to death after he fired several shots at a deputy.
Authorities say Simpson and a woman had been on a week-long burglary and car theft spree that started in Louisiana.
A spokesman for the Pasco County Sheriff's office says deputies shot and killed a man Friday after he fired at them in the west central Florida community of Hudson.
Authorities say the gunman broke into an acquaintance's mobile home and began beating him Friday night. The gunman fired at six deputies who responded to the victim's 911 call. Three deputies returned fire and killed the gunman.
