The Alabama Film Office has announced that a production team will shoot parts of the movie “Big Fish” in south-central Alabama.

Wetumpka Mayor R. Scott Golden said the film involves a major studio and that the Columbia Pictures project could provide a $25 million windfall for local economies.

Robin Citrin, location manager for Columbia, said filming is expected to take 84 days. Tim Burton is directing the project.

A team consisting of location scouts, set designers and artists already are at work in Montgomery and Wetumpka.
