Work is scheduled to begin next week on one of the busiest highways in the Wiregrass area.
The Alabama Department of Transportation plans to start resurfacing a 4.7 mile section of Highway 231 Monday morning.
That's the section of four-lane that runs between Dale County Road 63 and Dale County Road 18 in the Newton and Pinckard City limits.
DOT officials say a pilot car will be used to safely guide vehicles through construction sites, but motorists are still urged to slow down and use caution in work areas.
The contractor, Wiregrass Construction Company, has 75 days to complete the project.
