Couple Find Body in Talladega National Forest

TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) - A couple walking through Talladega National Forest made a grisly discovery Tuesday afternoon when they saw a foot sticking out of the ground.

Sheriff Jerry Studdard said the remains were those of a white male. He said the decomposed body had been place in a shallow grave and covered in lime.

Authorities are checking missing persons reports from surrounding counties. The body was sent to a state forensic lab for an autopsy and identification.
