Economic Development in The Wiregrass

Alabama U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions took part in a check presentation Wednesday afternoon for economic development in the Wiregrass.

The ceremony took place at the South Alabama Regional Airport, which is the new name of the Andalusia-Opp Airport.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded money for Mizell Hospital to build a rehabilitation center in Opp.

In addition federal dollars are going to the Covington County economic development commission.

Senator Sessions says each new business attracts growth to this part of the state.

"Actually this is a great concept in keeping jobs close to a community. We will continue to strive to bring economic development, especially to the rural parts of the state that are really struggling," said Sen. Sessions.

The airport's business incubator is expected to be expanded with the federal dollar.

You left off the check presented to the South Central Ala Mental Health to help prepare buildings in Andalusia damaged by Hurricane Ivan almost 3 years ago. You showed the pictures but talked about a Cov. county commissioners meeting the night before!
