BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) - President Bush is pledging federal aid for parts of Georgia and Florida coping with a wave of destructive wildfires.
The president received a briefing on the fires during a stop in Brunswick, Georgia. He praised state and local efforts, and said the next question is "how can we help them even more."
The wildfires are seen as among the largest to ever hit the South. The area has been coping with drought conditions that have dried up swamps and wetlands that typically serve as fire barriers.
