A Skipperville teenager is dead and another is recovering after a car crash in Dale County.
Law enforcement officials have been out in full force trying to prevent an accident happening this Memorial Day weekend.
However, Monday morning about 6 o'clock, a drive in a blue truck turned deadly for one Skipperville teenager.
The driver 18 year old Wesley Powell of Skipperville was killed and the passenger 18 year old Brandon Whitehead of Ozark remains in the hospital with serious injuries, but officials say they're not life threatening.
Powell and was Whitehead were traveling north on Alabama Highway 105 just north of Ozark when they hit a tree.
The peeled bark from the tree is all that's left of the fatal crash on the heavily traveled Skipperville highway.
This is the first fatal accident of the Memorial Day weekend for the Alabama State Troopers Dothan post, but it's the latest in a growing number of local young drivers killed behind the wheel.
Officials say the cause of the accident is under investigation, but speed was a factor.
The passenger, Brandon Whitehead, just graduated from Carroll High School on Saturday.
