Man Found Guilty of Raping a Dothan Store Clerk

A Henry County man is found guilty of raping a Dothan store clerk 10 years ago.

Demarlos Davis was 23 years old when he was arrested for raping a woman inside a Dothan business in 1997.

His first two trials ended with jurors unable to reach a unanimous decision.

But Wednesday, after four hours of deliberation a jury convicted him of the crime.

Sentencing is set for June 20th. Davis faces up to 20 years in prison.

I am all for doing away with, rapist pedafiles and sexual preadators in general, however i have not heard any mention of D.N.A. evidence. This crime happened within a time frame that there should be some physical evidence to go by.If there is no physical evidence a conviction after 10 years and three trialsseems rather shakie to say the least, Perhaps if there is no physical evidence because of shoddy police work, the investigator should do the preaditors time, and if there is no evidence because did away with it too bad. If it took 10 year's and three trials to get a conviction, something is AMISS..

Was there a positive DNA match? How did they reach a guilty verdict after 2 previous trials from 10 years in passing? Was he judged by race? class? physical similarities? I hope they are sure without a doubt that he is guilty because to send an innocent person to prison is something you can never correct for either party. I do not know this man; the rape victim or the jurors--in fact, I do not know any details but after 10 years and just now finding a guilty verdict seems mighty suspicious to me.
