Protecting Children from Online Predators

The Alfred Saliba Family Services center and local troopers are showing parents how to keep children safe from online sexual predators.

Yesterday, the center hosted a workshop called "wolves among our lambs".

The goal of the workshop was to inform parents about the different ways to monitor a child's online usage so they don't unsuspectingly come across a sexual predator.

Alabama State Trooper Cpl. Tracy Nelson said, "The internet is a way that anyone can disguise themselves by pretending to be someone they're not. They'll send them pictures and stuff about what they did at school, but that might not be the case."

Authorities say keeping your home computer in a communal room and maintaining open lines of communication are two good ways to keep children safe.
